Audit log
Who did what and when in Fleetdock, with IP address, client and outcome; filters, CSV export and retention.
Activity → Audit log lists the changes made through Fleetdock, newest first, and who made
them. Owners and admins can read it; it needs the audit:read permission.
What is recorded
- Sign-ins, including failed ones (with the email that was tried), sign-outs, profile and password changes.
- Access: users, roles, role grants, API tokens and agent install tokens.
- Infrastructure: servers and their agent tokens, database servers (connect, create, start, stop, restart, remove, import), databases (create, lock, unlock, delete, move), public access, application credentials, database users and privileges, killed queries.
- Data: console scripts that write (the script itself, up to 4 KB), rows inserted, edited or deleted in the data browser and their undo, CSV and SQL imports, rows restored from a backup, exports and dumps, table and index changes, schema tracking, fleet queries.
- Backups: backups started, restored, verified, deleted and downloaded; backup storage and schedules; notification channels and alert rules.
Reads are not recorded, and neither are console scripts that only read or previews (which are always rolled back).
A request refused for lack of permission is kept as Denied, so attempts are visible too. Failed sign-ins are Failed.
Each event has:
- who: the user, marked API token when an API token was used (the token is in the
details), or CLI for
fleetdock reset-admin-passwordon the host; - the IP address and the browser or client. Behind a reverse proxy, set
FLEETDOCK_TRUST_PROXY_HEADERS=trueto record the client's address rather than the proxy's; - what was done and to which resource, with its name at the time;
- details such as the table or the SQL script. Secrets (passwords, new API tokens) are never recorded.
Finding events
Filter by period (the last 7 days by default), kind of action, user and result. Open an event for its details. A database's ⋯ → Audit log shows that database's events.
Export CSV downloads every event matching the filters, up to 10 000, for a spreadsheet, an archive or your SIEM.
The API is GET /v1/audit-events (filters: actor, action — exact or a category such as
user. —, resource_type, resource_id, outcome, since, until; paged with cursor;
format=csv for the export).
Retention and integrity
Events are kept for FLEETDOCK_AUDIT_RETENTION (365 days by default; 0 keeps them forever)
and removed by the background worker after that.
The table is append-only: a database trigger refuses any change except that retention and unlinking a deleted user, whose events keep their email. Back up the metadata database to keep the trail beyond retention.
Console scripts are recorded as written. If someone runs CREATE USER … PASSWORD '…' in the
SQL console, that password is in the audit log, readable by everyone with audit:read.
Use Access on the database page to manage database users instead.
Security
Fleetdock's trust model — Manager and Agent privileges, tokens and sessions, encryption, SSRF protection, compromise scenarios, and current limitations.
Troubleshooting
Diagnose common Fleetdock problems — agent connectivity, tokens, TLS and DNS, Docker permissions, port conflicts, disk space, and stuck operations.
